✧ "Beware! Do not be excessive in the dowries of women, for if it were a source of honor in this world and piety before Allah, the most deserving of it among you would be Muhammad ﷺ. He did not marry off any of his daughters, nor did he marry any of his wives, for more than twelve uqiyyah. One of you would be excessive in a woman's dowry until it becomes a ransom for her, and then he says: 'I have burdened myself for you with the hanging of the water-skin,'" or he said: "the sweat of the water-skin."
