حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ مَيْمُونٍ، يَقُولُ:
شَهِدْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ بِجَمْعٍ بَعْدَمَا صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ وَقَفَ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الْمُشْرِكِينَ كَانُوا لَا يُفِيضُونَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ، وَيَقُولُونَ: أَشْرِقْ ثَبِيرُ، وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ خَالَفَهُمْ فَأَفَاضَ عُمَرُ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ
Translation

✧ I witnessed 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ at Jam' after he had prayed the dawn prayer. He stood and said: 'The polytheists used not to depart until the sun rose, and they would say: "Shine, Thabir!" But the Messenger of Allah ﷺ differed from them, so 'Umar departed before sunrise.'
