حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ، كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنَ وَقَّاصٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، ؓ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ:

" يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّمَا الْأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّةِ، وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى، فَمَنْ كَانَتْ هِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ فَهِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ هِجْرَتُهُ لِدُنْيَا يُصِيبُهَا أَوِ امْرَأَةٍ يَتَزَوَّجُهَا فَهِجْرَتُهُ إِلَى مَا هَاجَرَ إِلَيْهِ

✧ "O people, actions are only by intention, and each person will have only what he intended. Whoever's migration was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger. And whoever's migration was for a worldly gain to attain or a woman to marry, his migration is to what he migrated for."
