✧ I was with the Messenger of God ﷺ and with him was a group of people. A man came to him and said: O Messenger of God, which of the people has the best station with God on the Day of Resurrection after His prophets and His chosen ones? He said: The one who strives in the path of God with his self and his wealth until the call of God comes to him while he is on the back of his horse, holding its reins. He said: Then who? He said: A man in a remote corner who worships his Lord well and leaves the people safe from his evil. He said: O Messenger of God, which of the people has the worst station with God on the Day of Resurrection? He said: The polytheist. He said: Then who? He said: A tyrannical ruler who deviates from the truth and has been given power. The Messenger of God ﷺ singled out the doors of the unseen and said: Ask me, and you will not ask me about anything except that I will inform you of it. ʿUmar said: We are content with God as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with you as Prophet. Enough for us is what has come to us. He said: Then it was relieved from him.
