حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْمَعْمَرِيُّ ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ثنا حَسَّانُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ
أَذَّنَ فِينَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِالْحَجِّ فَخَرَجَ حَتَّى إِذَا قَدِمْنَا الْمَسْجِدَ عِنْدَ الشَّجَرَةِ نَزَلَ وَنَزَلْنَا ثُمَّ رَكِبْنَا فَوَقَفْنَا نَنْتَظِرُ حَتَّى رَكِبَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ طَافَ وَطُفْنَا فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ قَرَأَ فِيهِمَا قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَقُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ ثُمَّ طُفْنَا بِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ حَتَّى إِذَا كُنَّا عِنْدَ الْمَرْوَةِ قَالَ «مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَهْدَى فَلْيَحِلَّ» فَقُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نَوَيْنَا الْحَجَّ قَالَ «دَخَلَ الْحَجُّ فِي الْعُمْرَةِ» فَأَصَبْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَالطِّيبَ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا وَبَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ أَنْ نَأْتِيَ مِنًى أَرْبَعَةُ أَيَّامٍ فَنَأْتِيَ مِنًى وَمَذَاكِيرُنَا تَقْطُرُ مِنْ نِسَائِنَا؟ فَقَامَ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ فَقَالَ أَنْبِئْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كَقَوْمٍ إِنَّمَا وُلِدُوا الْيَوْمَ قَالَ «إِنَّ الْحَجَّ قَدْ دَخَلَ فِي الْعُمْرَةِ» قَالَ لَنَا؟ أَمْ لِلْأَبَدِ؟ قَالَ «لَا بَلْ لِلْأَبَدِ»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ announced the Hajj among us. He departed, and when we reached the mosque near the tree, he dismounted and we dismounted. Then he mounted, and we waited until he mounted. When we arrived in Makkah, he circumambulated the Kaʿbah and we circumambulated with him, and he prayed two units in which he recited: 'Say, O disbelievers' and 'Say, He is God, the One.' Then we performed the going between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah. When we were at al-Marwah, he said, 'Whoever has not brought a sacrificial animal should exit the state of consecration.' We said, 'O Messenger of God, we intended Hajj.' He said, 'Hajj has been merged into ʿUmrah.' So we had relations with women and applied perfume. When we arrived, we were four days away from going to Mina, and we said, 'We will go to Mina with our private parts dripping from contact with our women?' Surāqah b. Mālik stood up and said, 'Inform us, O Messenger of God—are we like a people who were only born today?' He said, 'Hajj has been merged into ʿUmrah.' He said, 'For us or forever?' He said, 'No, rather forever.'
