حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ وَابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ
قَدِمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَكَّةَ صَبِيحَةَ رَابِعَةٍ فَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَحِلَّ فَقُلْنَا أَيُّ الْحِلِّ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «أَحِلُّوا الْحِلَّ كُلَّهُ» قُلْنَا نَغْدُو إِلَى مِنًى وأَحَالِيلُنَا تَقْطُرُ مَنِيًّا قَالَ «أَحِلُّوا الْحِلَّ كُلَّهُ فَلَوِ اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ لَصَنَعْتُ مِثْلَ الَّذِي صَنَعْتُمْ» قَالَ فَأَحْلَلْنَا وَأَتَيْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ قِصَّةَ سُرَاقَةَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

✧ We arrived with the Messenger of God ﷺ in Makkah on the morning of the fourth day, and he ordered us to exit the state of consecration. We said, 'Which kind of exiting, O Prophet of God?' He said, 'Exit the state completely.' We said, 'We shall go to Mina in the morning while our private parts are dripping semen.' He said, 'Exit the state completely, for if I had known at the beginning of my affair what I came to know at its end, I would have done the same as you are doing.' So we exited the state and went to our women. Ibn ʿUyaynah did not mention the story of Surāqah b. Mālik.
