✧ That a man from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ used to travel and go on military expeditions constantly, and his wife sent her slave woman with him. She said: "She will wash your head, serve you, and guard your baggage," and she did not give her to him. His journey on that occasion became prolonged, and he had intercourse with the slave woman. When he returned, the slave woman informed her mistress of that, and she became intensely jealous and angry. She came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and told him what he had done. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said to her: "If he forced her, then she is freed, and he owes a similar one; and if he came to her with her willing consent, then she is his, and he owes the like of her value." And he did not impose any punishment on him.
