حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ السَّقَطِيُّ وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْفَسَوِيُّ قَالَا ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مُحَبَّرٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ قَالَ
كُنَّا نَكُونُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا نَزَلَ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ أَخْبَرَنَا بِهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ نَزَلَتْ عَلَيَّ آيَةٌ إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَا الْمَالَ لِإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَلَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادٍ ابْتَغَى إِلَيْهِ ثَانِيًا وَلَوْ كَانَ ثَانِيًا لَابْتَغَى إِلَيْهِ ثَالِثًا وَلَا يَمْلَأُ نَفْسَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ وَيَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ «» وَخَالَفَ رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ هِشَامَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ وَابْنَ مُحَبَّرٍ فِي إِسْنَادِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ

✧ We used to be with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and when something descended upon him he would inform us of it. One day the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'A verse descended upon me: We sent down wealth for the establishment of prayer and the giving of zakat. If the son of Adam had a valley, he would seek a second. If he had a second, he would seek a third. Nothing fills the soul of the son of Adam except dust, and Allah turns to whoever repents.' Rabi'ah b. Uthman disagreed with Hisham b. Sa'd and Ibn Muhabbar concerning the chain of this hadith.
