حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الدِّمْيَاطِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْهِ أَتَيْنَاهُ يُعَلِّمُنَا مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْهِ فَجِئْتُهُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى يَقُولُ إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَا الْمَالَ لِإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ وَلَوْ أَنَّ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيًا لَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ إِلَيْهِ الثَّانِي وَلَوْ كَانَ لَهُ اثْنَانِ لَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَكُونَ إِلَيْهِمَا الثَّالِثُ وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ وَيَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ

✧ When revelation came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we would come to him and he would teach us what was revealed to him. I came to him one day and he said, 'Allah, the Exalted, says: We sent down wealth for the establishment of prayer and the giving of zakat. If the son of Adam had a valley, he would love to have a second. If he had two, he would love to have a third. Nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust, and Allah turns to whoever repents.'
