✧ We were three wives of ‘Utbah, and we used to perfume ourselves, and he was the sweetest-scented of us, yet he would not do more than oil his head and beard. A man would say to him, “O son of Farqad, how sweet is your scent!” So one of us said to him, “We perfume ourselves, and you do not do more than oil your head and beard, yet you are the sweetest-scented of us. How is that?” He said, “I was afflicted with an itch, so the Prophet ﷺ said, ‘Come closer.’ I came close, and he took my lower garment by its bottom edge and placed it over my private parts, then spread his hands and blew into them. He then wiped one hand over the other, and wiped one over my belly and the other over my back. So this fragrance is from that.”
