✧ The Prophet ﷺ was asked, “Which of the two terms did Moses fulfill?” He said, “The better and more complete of them.” And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When Moses ﷺ wanted to part from Shu‘ayb ﷺ, he told his wife to ask her father to give her from his sheep what she could live on. So he gave her what his sheep produced that year of one color. When the sheep came to the watering trough, Moses ﷺ stood at the edge of the trough, and none of them came out except that he struck its side, so it became pregnant. All of them then produced offspring of one color, among them no fashūsh, no ḍabūb, no na‘ūl, and no kamshah that escapes the hand.” He said: “If you conquer Syria, you will find remnants of them, so take them. They are the Sāmiriyyah.” Ibn Yaḥyā b. Bukayr said: My father said: “Al-fashūsh is the one whose milk scatters when milked; al-ḍabūb is the one whose udder withholds the milk at milking; and al-kamshah is the one that is difficult at milking.”
