✧ He was with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey to Makkah, and when the Messenger of God ﷺ went out to relieve himself he would go far away so that no one would see him. He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ noticed two trees far apart, and he said: 'O Ibn Mas'ud, go to these two trees and say to them: The Messenger of God ﷺ commands you to come together for him so that he may conceal himself with you.' So one of them walked to the other, and the Messenger of God ﷺ relieved himself, then they returned to their places. Then he went on until we reached the alleys of Madinah, and a camel came rushing until it prostrated to the Messenger of God ﷺ, then stood before him with its eyes shedding tears. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Who is the owner of this camel?' They said: 'So-and-so.' He said: 'Call him to me.' So they brought him, and the Messenger of God ﷺ said to him: 'What is your affair with this camel that it complains about you?' He said: 'O Messenger of God, this camel—we have been drawing water on it for twenty years, then we wanted to slaughter it.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'It complained of that. What a bad way you have repaid it. You used it for twenty years, and when its bones became thin and its skin became thin, you wanted to slaughter it. Sell it to me.' They said: 'Rather it is yours, O Messenger of God.' So the Messenger of God ﷺ ordered it, and he sent it with the riding animals. Then his companions said to him: 'O Messenger of God, this camel prostrated to you, and we are more deserving of prostration.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'God forbid that anyone should prostrate to anyone. If anyone were to prostrate to anyone, I would command the woman to prostrate to her husband.'
