حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابَانَ، ثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ السَّيْلَحِينِيُّ، وَحَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَرَّ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي يَخْفِضُ مِنْ صَوْتِهِ، وَمَرَّ عَلَى عُمَرَ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ يَرْفَعُ صَوْتَهُ، فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَا وَاجْتَمَعَا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، قَالَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ: يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ، مَرَرْتُ بِكَ وَأَنْتَ تُصَلِّي تَخْفِضُ مِنْ صَوْتِكَ ؟ قَالَ: قَدْ أَسْمَعْتُ مَنْ نَاجَيْتُ قَالَ: " ارْفَعْ مِنْ صَوْتِكَ شَيْئًا ". وَقَالَ لِعُمَرَ: " مَرَرْتُ بِكَ يَا عُمَرُ وَأَنْتَ تُصَلِّي تَرْفَعُ مِنْ صَوْتِكِ ؟ " فَقَالَ: خَشِيتُ الشَّيْطَانَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: " اخْفِضْ مِنْ صَوْتِكَ شَيْئًا ".

✧ The Prophet ﷺ passed by Abu Bakr while he was praying, lowering his voice, and he passed by Umar while he was praying, raising his voice. When morning came and they gathered with the Prophet ﷺ, he said to Abu Bakr: O Abu Bakr, I passed by you while you were praying, lowering your voice? He said: I made myself heard by the One I was confiding in. He said: Raise your voice a little. And he said to Umar: I passed by you, O Umar, while you were praying, raising your voice? He said: I feared Satan, O Messenger of Allah. He said: Lower your voice a little.
