حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا الْغَلَّابِيُّ، قَالَ: ثَنَا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي سَوِيَّةَ الْمِنْقَرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عِكْرَاشٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عِكْرَاشِ بْنِ ذُؤَيْبٍ، قَالَ:
بَعَثَنِي بَنُو مُرَّةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ بِصَدَقَاتِ أَمْوَالِهِمْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَدِمْتُ عَلَيْهِ الْمَدِينَةَ، فَوَجَدْتُهُ جَالِسًا بَيْنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ، فَقَدِمْتُ عَلَيْهِ بِإِبِلٍ كَأَنَّهَا عُرُوقُ الْأَمْطَا، فَقَالَ: مَنِ الرَّجُلُ ؟ " فَقُلْتُ: عِكْرَاشُ بْنُ ذُؤَيْبٍ، قَالَ: " ارْفَعْ فِي النَّسَبِ، فَقُلْتُ: ابْنُ حُرْقُوصِ بْنِ جَعْدَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ النَّزَّالِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، هَذِهِ صَدَقَاتُ بَنِي مُرَّةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " هَذِهِ إِبِلُ قَوْمِي، هَذِهِ صَدَقَاتُ قَوْمِي "، ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ تُوسَمَ بِمِيسَمِ إِبِلِ الصَّدَقَةِ، فَتُضَمَّ إِلَيْهَا. ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِيَدِي، فَانْطَلَقَ بِي إِلَى مَنْزِلِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، فَقَالَ: " هَلْ مِنْ طَعَامٍ ؟ " فَأُتِينَا بِجَفْنَةٍ كَثِيرَةِ الثَّرِيدِ، وَالْوَذْرِ، فَأَقْبَلْنَا نَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا، فَجَعَلْتُ أَخْبِطُ بِيَدِي فِي جَوَانِبِهَا، فَقَبَضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِيَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى يَدِي الْيُمْنَى، وَقَالَ: " يَا عِكْرَاشُ، كُلْ مِنْ مَوْضِعٍ وَاحِدٍ، فَإِنَّهُ طَعَامٌ وَاحِدٌ "، ثُمَّ أُتِينَا بِطَبَقٍ فِيهِ أَلْوَانٌ مِنْ رُطَبٍ، فَجَعَلْتُ آكُلُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ، وَجَالَتْ يَدُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الطَّبَقِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " يَا عِكْرَاشُ، كُلْ مِنْ حَيْثُ شِئْتَ، فَإِنَّهُ غَيْرُ طَعَامٍ وَاحِدٍ "، ثُمَّ أُتِينَا بِمَاءٍ فَغَسَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَدَيْهِ، وَمَسَحَ بِبَلَلِ كَفَّيْهِ وَجْهَهُ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ وَرَأْسَهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " يَا عِكْرَاشُ، هَكَذَا الْوُضُوءُ مِمَّا غَيَّرَتِ النَّارُ

✧ The Banu Murrah b. ʿUbayd sent me with the zakat of their wealth to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I arrived in Madinah and found him sitting among the Muhajirun and the Ansar. I came to him with camels that looked like the roots of the arta tree. He said: “Who is the man?” I said: “ʿIkrash b. Dhuʾayb.” He said: “Raise in lineage.” I said: “Son of Ḥurquṣ b. Jaʿdah b. ʿAmr b. al-Nazzal b. Murrah b. ʿUbayd. These are the zakat of Banu Murrah b. ʿUbayd.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled, then said: “These are the camels of my people, these are the zakat of my people.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that they be branded with the branding iron of the zakat camels and added to them. Then he took my hand and went with me to the dwelling of Umm Salamah, and said: “Is there any food?” A large bowl of tharid and meat was brought to us, and we began to eat from it. I started to roam my hand around its sides, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ took my right hand with his left hand and said: “O ʿIkrash, eat from one place, for it is one food.” Then a dish was brought to us with various kinds of fresh dates. I began to eat from in front of me, and the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ roamed in the dish. Then he said: “O ʿIkrash, eat from wherever you wish, for it is not one food.” Then water was brought to us, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ washed his hands, then wiped his face, forearms, and head with the wetness of his palms. Then he said: “O ʿIkrash, this is how ablution is done after eating what fire has changed.”
