حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدٌ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ:
«إِذَا زَنَتِ الأَمَةُ فَتَبَيَّنَ زِنَاهَا فَلْيَجْلِدْهَا وَلاَ يُثَرِّبْ، ثُمَّ إِنْ زَنَتْ فَلْيَجْلِدْهَا وَلاَ يُثَرِّبْ، ثُمَّ إِنْ زَنَتِ الثَّالِثَةَ فَلْيَبِعْهَا وَلَوْ بِحَبْلٍ مِنْ شَعَرٍ».

The Prophet ﷺ said: “If a maid-servant commits adultery and it is proven, then let him (the master) flog her and not reproach her. Then if she commits adultery again, let him flog her and not reproach her. Then if she commits adultery a third time, let him sell her, even if only for a rope made of hair.”
