What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • ʿAlī al-Madīnī

machine translationA good (ḥasan) hadith, and its narrators are known.

    in سنن النسائي, p. 5161
  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationThus he said, that is Ibn al-Madīnī: Abū Aflaḥ is unknown (majhūl), and ʿAbdullāh b. Zurayr is of unknown condition (majhūl al-ḥāl).

    in سنن النسائي, p. 5161
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationAl-Dāraquṭnī was asked about it and said: Al-Layth b. Saʿd, ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd b. Jaʿfar and Muḥammad b. Isḥāq narrated it from Yazīd b. Abī Ḥabīb, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Abī al-Ṣaʿbah, from Abū Aflaḥ al-Hamdānī, from Ibn Zurayr, from ʿAlī; and he mentioned in it a statement other than this. He said: The sound (ṣaḥīḥ) report from Ibn Isḥāq is the statement of Yazīd b. Hārūn and Jarīr from him, because ʿAbd al-Ḥamīd b. Jaʿfar and al-Layth corroborate them.

    in سنن النسائي, p. 5161
  • Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb al-Nasāʾī

machine translationThe hadith of Ibn al-Mubārak is closer to being correct, except for his saying "Aflaḥ", for "Abū Aflaḥ" is closer to being correct.

    in سنن النسائي, p. 5161

  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationThis hadith has been given another defect (ʿillah), namely the unknown status (jahālat al-ḥāl) of Abū Aflaḥ, with an fāʾ and not a qāf. He said: ʿUbaydullāh b. Zurayr is also of unknown status (majhūl al-ḥāl).

    in سنن النسائي, p. 5161
