Notes

    in سنن النسائي, p. 2829
  • al-Tirmidhi

  • Aḥmad ibn Shuʿayb al-Nasāʾī

machine translationʿAmr b. Abī ʿAmr is not strong (laysa bi-l-qawī) in ḥadīth, even though Mālik narrated from him.

    in سنن النسائي, p. 2829
  • Ibn Ḥajar al-ʿAsqalānī

machine translationʿAmr is disputed, even though he is among the narrators of the two Ṣaḥīḥs, and so is his freed slave. Al-Tirmidhī said: No hearing from Jābir is known for him. In another place he said: Muḥammad said: I do not know of him having heard from any of the Companions, except for his saying, "Someone who attended the sermon of the Messenger of God ﷺ narrated to me." And I heard ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān say: We do not know of him having heard from any of the Companions.
