حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوَائِيِّ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ
أَحْرَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَامَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَلَمْ يُحْرِمْ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: وَحُدِّثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّ عَدُوًّا بِغَيْقَةَ فَانْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَبَيْنَمَا أَنَا مَعَ أَصْحَابِي فَضَحِكَ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ، فَنَظَرْتُ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِحِمَارِ وَحْشٍ، فَاسْتَعَنْتُهُمْ فَأَبَوْا أَنْ يُعِينُونِي، فَحَمَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ، فَأَثْبَتُّهُ فَأَكَلْنَا مِنْ لَحْمِهِ، وَخَشِينَا أَنْ نُقْتَطَعَ، فَانْطَلَقْتُ أَطْلُبُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَجَعَلْتُ أُرَفِّعُ فَرَسِي شَأْوًا، وَأَسِيرُ شَأْوًا، وَلَقِيتُ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي غِفَارٍ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ، فَقُلْتُ: أَيْنَ تَرَكْتَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ قَالَ: تَرَكْتُهُ وَهُوَ بِتِعْهِنَ، وَهُوَ مِمَّا يَلِي السُّقْيَا، فَأَدْرَكْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ أَصْحَابَكَ يُقْرِئُونَكَ السَّلَامَ وَرَحْمَةَ اللهِ، وَقَدْ خَشُوا أَنْ يُقْتَطَعُوا دُونَكَ فَانْتَظِرْهُمْ، قَالَ: فَانْتَظَرَهُمْ. قُلْتُ: وَقَدْ أَصَبْتُ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ وَعِنْدِي مِنْهُ فَاضِلَةٌ، فَقَالَ لِلْقَوْمِ: كُلُوا، وَهُمْ مُحْرِمُونَ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ entered ihram in the year of al-Hudaybiyah, but Abu Qatadah did not enter ihram. He said: And the Messenger of God ﷺ was informed that an enemy was at Ghayqah, so the Messenger of God ﷺ set out. While I was with my companions, some of them laughed to one another. I looked and saw a wild donkey. I sought their help, but they refused to help me. I charged at it and brought it down, and we ate from its meat. We feared being cut off, so I set off seeking the Messenger of God ﷺ, making my horse gallop at times and walk at times. I met a man from Banu Ghifar in the middle of the night and said: "Where did you leave the Messenger of God ﷺ?" He said: "I left him at Ti'hin, which is on the side facing al-Suqya." I caught up with him and said: "O Messenger of God, your companions send you greetings of peace and the mercy of God. They feared being cut off from you, so wait for them." He said: So he waited for them. I said: "I have hunted a wild donkey, and I have some of it left over." He said to the people: "Eat," and they were in ihram.
