Sunan ad-Darimi 1867

✧ In the consumption of hunt meat for the forbidden, if it did not initiate the hunting.

أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ

انْطَلَقَ أَبِي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ عَامَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ فَأَحْرَمَ أَصْحَابُهُ وَلَمْ يُحْرِمْ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ فَأَصَابَ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ فَطَعَنَهُ وَأَكَلَ مِنْ لَحْمِهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَصَبْتُ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ فَطَعَنْتُهُ فَقَالَ لِلْقَوْمِ «كُلُوا وَهُمْ مُحْرِمُونَ»

✧ My father set out with the Prophet ﷺ in the year of al-Hudaybiyyah, and his companions entered ihram while Abu Qatadah did not enter ihram. He came upon a wild donkey and stabbed it and ate from its meat. I said: O Messenger of Allah, I came upon a wild donkey and stabbed it. He said to the people: "Eat," while they were in a state of ihram.
