The superiority of prayer sitting down over prayer lying down
Show the chain

- Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr
machine translationThis is a hadith that only Ḥusayn al-Muʿallim narrated, who is Ḥusayn b. Dhakwān, from ʿAbdullāh b. Buraydah, from ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn. There is also disagreement about Ḥusayn al-Muʿallim concerning its chain and its wording, a disagreement that requires withholding judgement on it. And if the hadith of Ḥusayn from Ibn Buraydah from ʿImrān b. Ḥuṣayn is authentic, then I do not know what its explanation is.
machine translationAs for his statement, "Whoever prays lying down will have half the reward of the one who prays sitting," its meaning is not sound according to the scholars, because they are unanimously agreed that a person who is able to stand may not pray a voluntary prayer by gesturing. Rather, the error entered through the one who transmitted the hadith.
