What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • al-Tirmidhi

machine translationA gharīb ḥadīth from this route.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 1079

machine translationIts chain is weak (ḍaʿīf), because in its chain is ʿAbd al-Aʿlā b. ʿĀmir, and the hadith revolves around him, and his hadith is not to be used as evidence.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 1079
  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationI see that it is not sound because of him, meaning ʿAbd al-Aʿlā b. ʿĀmir al-Thaʿlabī. Ibn Mahdī used not to narrate from him and described him as inconsistent (muḍṭarib). Abū Zurʿah said: weak (ḍaʿīf); at times he would raise the hadith to the Prophet (marfūʿ) and at times he would stop it at the Companion (mawqūf). Ibn ʿAdī said: Aḥmad, may God be pleased with him, said: he is of rejected hadith (munkar al-ḥadīth). He narrated from Saʿīd b. Jubayr, Ibn al-Ḥanafiyyah and Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī things in which he is not corroborated.

    in جامع الترمذي, p. 1079
