حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا حَكَّامُ بْنُ سَلْمٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ
اللَّحْدُ لَنَا وَالشَّقُّ لِغَيْرِنَا

machine translationI see that it is not sound because of him, meaning ʿAbd al-Aʿlā b. ʿĀmir al-Thaʿlabī. Ibn Mahdī used not to narrate from him and described him as inconsistent (muḍṭarib). Abū Zurʿah said: weak (ḍaʿīf); at times he would raise the hadith to the Prophet (marfūʿ) and at times he would stop it at the Companion (mawqūf). Ibn ʿAdī said: Aḥmad, may God be pleased with him, said: he is of rejected hadith (munkar al-ḥadīth). He narrated from Saʿīd b. Jubayr, Ibn al-Ḥanafiyyah and Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī things in which he is not corroborated.
