✧ Shortening the Prayer During Travel and What Came About Combining Two Prayers

وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ: حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَوَّامُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، قَالَ:
أَتَيْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ ؓ بِالْبَلْدَةِ وَهِيَ مِنًى، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: إِنَّ عُثْمَانَ ؓ صَلَّى أَرْبَعًا، فَقَالَ: صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ ؓ فَصَلَّوْا رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى أَرْبَعًا
Translation

✧ I came to Abu Dharr ؓ at al-Baldah, which is Mina, and it was said to him, 'Uthman ؓ prayed four [rak'ahs].' He said, 'I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and 'Umar ؓ, and they prayed two rak'ahs.' Then he stood and prayed four.
