حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثنا عُبَادَةُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثنا جُبَيْرُ بْنُ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ جَالِسًا مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ فَقَالَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ فِي دُعَائِهِ حِينَ يُصْبِحُ وَحِينَ يُمْسِي لَمْ يَدَعْهُ حَتَّى فَارَقَ الدُّنْيَا وَحَتَّى مَاتَ «اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ فِي دِينِي وَدُنْيَايَ وَأَهِلِّي وَمَالِي اللهُمَّ اسْتُرْ عَوْرَاتِي وَآمِنْ رَوْعَاتِي اللهُمَّ احْفَظْنِي مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيَّ وَمِنْ خَلْفِي وَعَنْ يَمِينِي وَعَنْ شِمَالِي وَمِنْ فَوْقِي وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي» قَالَ جُبَيْرٌ «وَهُوَ الْخَسْفُ» فَلَا أَدْرِي قَوْلَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَوْ قَوْلَ جُبَيْرٍ؟
Translation

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say in his supplication when he entered the morning and when he entered the evening, and he never abandoned it until he departed this world and until he died: “O Allah, I ask You for pardon and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, cover my faults and calm my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me, from behind me, from my right, from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in You from being swallowed up from beneath me.” Jubayr said, “And that is the earth swallowing.” I do not know whether it is the statement of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ or the statement of Jubayr.
