✧ Urwah b. Mas'ud said to his people at the time of al-Hudaybiyyah: 'O my people, I have seen kings and spoken to them. Send me to Muhammad so I may speak with him.' So he came to him at al-Hudaybiyyah. Urwah began to speak with the Prophet ﷺ and reached for the beard of the Prophet ﷺ. Al-Mughirah b. Shu'bah was armed with weapons at the head of the Messenger of God ﷺ. Al-Mughirah said to him: 'Withdraw your hand before it does not reach you.' Urwah raised his head and said: 'Is it you? By God, I am still within your treachery, and I have not yet left it.' Urwah returned to his people and said: 'O my people, I have seen kings and spoken with them. I have never seen anyone like Muhammad. He is not a king. I saw the sacrificial animals held back, and I think you will be struck by a calamity.' Then he departed with those of his people who followed him, climbed the wall of al-Ta'if, and testified that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God. A man from his people shot him with an arrow and killed him. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Praise be to God who has placed in my community someone like the companion of Yasin.'
