حَدَّثَنَا حَوْثَرَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ
أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ الثَّقَفِيَّ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ زَمَنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ: أَيْ قَوْمِ، إِنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ الْمُلُوكَ وَكَلَّمْتُهُمْ، فَابْعَثُونِي إِلَى مُحَمَّدٍ فَأُكَلِّمَهُ، فَأَتَاهُ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ، فَجَعَلَ عُرْوَةُ يُكَلِّمُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَيَتَنَاوَلُ لِحْيَةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَالْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ شَاكٍ فِي السِّلَاحِ عَلَى رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ لَهُ الْمُغِيرَةُ: كُفَّ يَدَكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ لَا تَصِلَ إِلَيْكَ، فَرَفَعَ عُرْوَةُ رَأْسَهُ، فَقَالَ: أَنْتَ هُوَ وَاللهِ إِنَّكَ لَفِي غَدْرَتِكَ مَا خَرَجْتَ مِنْهَا بَعْدُ، فَرَجَعَ عُرْوَةُ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ، فَقَالَ: أَيْ قَوْمِ، إِنِّي قَدْ رَأَيْتُ الْمُلُوكَ وَكَلَّمْتُهُمْ، مَا رَأَيْتُ مِثْلَ مُحَمَّدٍ قَطُّ، مَا هُوَ بِمَلِكٍ، وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ الْهَدْيَ مَعْكُوفًا يَأْكُلُ وَبَرَهُ، وَمَا أَرَاكُمْ إِلَّا سَتُصِيبُكُمْ قَارِعَةٌ، فَانْصَرَفَ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ، فَصَعِدَ سُورَ الطَّائِفِ، فَشَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ، فَرَمَاهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ بِسَهْمٍ، فَقَتَلَهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ فِي أُمَّتِي مِثْلَ صَاحِبِ يَاسِينَ
Translation

✧ That 'Urwa b. Mas'ud al-Thaqafi said to his people at the time of al-Hudaybiya: O my people, I have seen kings and spoken with them. Send me to Muhammad and I will speak with him. He came to him at al-Hudaybiya, and 'Urwa began to speak with the Prophet ﷺ and to take hold of the beard of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, while al-Mughira b. Shu'ba was armed, standing at the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Al-Mughira said to him: Withdraw your hand before it does not reach you. 'Urwa raised his head and said: Is it you? By Allah, you are still in your treachery from which you have not yet emerged. 'Urwa returned to his people and said: O my people, I have seen kings and spoken with them. I have never seen the like of Muhammad. He is not a king. I have seen the sacrificial animals restrained, their wool being eaten, and I think a calamity will befall you. So he departed with those of his people who were with him, climbed the wall of al-Ta'if, bore witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and a man of his people shot him with an arrow and killed him. The Prophet ﷺ said: Praise be to Allah who has placed in my community one like the companion of Yasin.
