✧ The beginning of Umar’s ؓ Islam was as follows: Umar ؓ said, “My sister went into labor at night, so I left the house and entered the curtains of the Kaaba on a cold night.” He said, “The Prophet ﷺ came and entered the Hijr wearing his sandals and prayed as long as Allah willed, then he left.” He said, “I heard something the like of which I had never heard, so I went out and followed him. He said, ‘Who is this?’ I said, ‘Umar.’ He ﷺ said, ‘O Umar, you do not leave me alone night or day.’” He said, “I feared that he would supplicate against me, so I said, ‘I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah.’ He ﷺ said, ‘O Umar, keep it secret.’ I said, ‘No, by the One who sent you with the truth, I will declare it openly just as I declared polytheism openly.’”
