✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Khadijah retreated in seclusion for a month, and that coincided with Ramadan. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out and heard, 'Peace be upon you.' She said: He said, 'I thought it was a sudden encounter with the jinn.' She said, 'Rejoice, for peace is good.' Then one day he ﷺ saw Jibril ﷺ on the sun, with one wing in the east and one wing in the west, and I was frightened by him. She said: He went off intending to go to his family, and behold, Jibril ﷺ was between him and the door. He said: He spoke to me until I felt at ease with him, then he promised me an appointment. I came to the appointment, and Jibril ﷺ was delayed for me. When he wanted to return, behold, he and Mikail (peace be upon them) were there. Jibril ﷺ descended to the earth, and Mikail remained between heaven and earth. He said: Jibril ﷺ took me, threw me down on the back of my neck, split open my belly, and took out of it what Allah, exalted is He, willed. Then he washed it in a basin of gold, then returned it inside, then turned me over as a vessel is turned over, then he sealed my back until I felt the touch of the seal. Then he said to me, 'Recite in the name of your Lord,' and I had never read a book. He took me by the throat until I burst into tears. Then he said, 'Recite in the name of your Lord who created' up to His words, Mighty and Majestic: 'what he did not know.' He ﷺ said: I did not forget anything after that. Mikail ﷺ said, 'His nation has followed him, by the Lord of the Kaaba.' When I came to my house, no stone or tree met me except that it said, 'Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah,' until I entered upon Khadijah, and she said, 'Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah.'
