وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ، ثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ صَدَقَةَ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ؓ قَالَ:

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ بَيْتِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي نَفَرٍ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ ؓ فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخِيَارِكُمْ ؟ " قَالُوا: بَلَى. قَالَ ﷺ: فَإِنَّ خِيَارَكُمُ الْمُوفُونَ الْمُطَيِّبُونَ، إِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى يُحِبُّ الْحَفِيَّ التَّقِيَّ قَالَ: وَمَرَّ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ، فَقَالَ ﷺ: " الْحَقُّ مَعَ ذَا، الْحَقُّ مَعَ ذَا

Translation

✧ I was near the house of the Prophet ﷺ among a group of the Muhajirun and Ansar ؓ, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us and said: "Shall I tell you who are the best among you?" They said: "Yes." He ﷺ said: "The best among you are those who fulfill their promises and are pure. Indeed, Allah the Exalted loves the considerate, the God-fearing." He said: "Then Ali b. Abi Talib ؓ passed by, and he ﷺ said: 'The truth is with this one, the truth is with this one.'"
