✧ When Umar ؓ departed from Mina, he made his camel kneel at al-Abtah. Then he piled up a heap of pebbles and threw himself upon it, pressing his garment to it and lying on his back. He stretched his hand toward the sky and said: O Allah, my strength has weakened, my age has advanced, and my flock has scattered, so take me to You without negligence or excess. Then he ؓ came to Madinah and gave a sermon: O people, I have established for you the sunnahs, I have ordained for you the obligations, and I have left you upon a clear path—Yahya clapped his hands—unless you lead people astray to the right and left. And he mentioned the hadith. Said: Dhul-Hijjah had not ended before Umar was killed.
