✧ They once struck the Messenger of Allah ﷺ until he lost consciousness. He said: 'Abu Bakr ؓ stood up and began calling out, "Woe to you! Would you kill a man for saying, 'My Lord is Allah'?" They said, "Who is this?" He said, "The son of Abu Quhafah."'

machine translationI do not know of anyone who narrates this from al-Aʿmash with this chain other than Abū ʿUbaydah, and from Abū ʿUbaydah his son Muḥammad. Ibn Abī ʿUbaydah has, from his father from al-Aʿmash, strange reports (gharāʾib) and solitary narrations (afrād), and in my view there is nothing wrong with him (lā baʾs bihi).
