حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ:

لَقَدْ ضَرَبُوا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَرَّةً حَتَّى غُشِيَ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ فَجَعَلَ يُنَادِي: وَيْلَكُمْ ! أَتَقْتُلُونَ رَجُلًا أَنْ يَقُولَ رَبِّيَ اللهُ ؟ فَقَالُوا: مَنْ هَذَا ؟ قَالَ: ابْنُ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ الْمَجْنُونُ

Translation

✧ They struck the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once until he lost consciousness. Abu Bakr ؓ stood up and began calling out: "Woe to you! Will you kill a man for saying: My Lord is Allah?" They said: "Who is this?" He said: "The son of Abu Quhafah, the madman."
