✧ The Virtue of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, ᴿᴬ

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ طَلْحَةَ - ؓ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ - ؓ قَالَتْ:

وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَفِي بَيْتِي ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْفِنَاءِ هُوَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ ؓ، وَالسِّتْرُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ، إِذْ أَقْبَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى عَتِيقِ اللهِ مِنَ النَّارِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ ؓ وَإِنَّ اسْمَهُ الَّذِي سَمَّاهُ أَهْلُهُ: عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، فَغَلَبَ عَلَيْهِ اسْمُ عَتِيقٍ

✧ By God, I was in my house one day, and the Messenger of God ﷺ was in the courtyard with his companions ؓ, and the curtain was between me and them, when Abu Bakr ؓ came. The Prophet ﷺ said: 'Whoever is pleased to look at the one freed by God from the Fire, let him look at Abu Bakr ؓ. And his name that his family gave him was Abdullah b. Uthman, but the name Atiq prevailed over him.'
