✧ I was sitting with the Prophet ﷺ when a bedouin came to him and said, ‘Will you accept a good thing? That you testify that there is no god but God and that Muhammad is the Messenger of God?’ He said, ‘Who will testify for you?’ The Prophet ﷺ said, ‘This tree.’ So he called it while it was on the bank of the valley, and it came cutting through the ground until it stood before him ﷺ. He asked it to testify, and it testified three times, then returned to its place. The bedouin said, ‘I will go to my people. If they follow me, I will bring them to you; otherwise I will return to you and stay with you.’”

machine translationI reject this, because Abū Ḥayyān did not hear from ʿAṭāʾ and did not narrate from him, and this hadith is not from the hadith of ʿAṭāʾ. I said: Whose do you think it is? He said: It is more like the hadith of Abū Jannāb.
