✧ 'Get out, enemy of Allah, for I am the Messenger of Allah.' Then he ﷺ handed him to her and said, 'Take him, and you will not see anything from him that worries you after today, if Allah, the Exalted, wills.' Usamah ؓ said: We completed our Hajj and departed. When we camped at al-Rawha', there was that woman, the mother of the child. She came with a roasted sheep and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I am the mother of the child whom I brought to you.' She said, 'By the One who sent you with the truth, I have not seen anything from him that worries me until this hour.' Usamah ؓ said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'O Usaym' - al-Zuhri said: This is how he used to call him, out of fondness - 'hand me its foreleg.' He said: I pulled off the foreleg and handed it to him ﷺ, and he ate it ﷺ. Then he said, 'O Usaym, hand me the foreleg.' I pulled off the foreleg and handed it to him, and he ate it ﷺ. Then he said, 'O Usaym, hand me the foreleg.' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, you said "hand me," and I handed it to you and you ate it. Then you said "hand me," and I handed it to you and you ate it. Then you said "hand me the foreleg," but the sheep has only two forelegs.' He ﷺ said, 'If you had reached for it, you would have kept finding a foreleg in it as long as I told you.' He ﷺ said, 'O Usaym, get up and go out and see if you can find a place that would conceal the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' I went out and walked until I was tired, and I had not passed the people, and I did not see anything that I thought would conceal anyone, for the people had filled the space between the two mountains. I informed him, and he ﷺ said, 'Did you see any trees or piles of stones?' I said, 'Yes, I saw small palm trees, and beside them were piles of stones.' He ﷺ said, 'O Usaym, go to the palm trees and say to them: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commands you to join one another so that you may be a screen for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. And say the same to the stones.' So I went to the palm trees and said to them what he ﷺ had commanded me. By the One who sent him with the truth, it was as if I was watching them pull themselves along by their roots and soil until they clung to one another and became like a single palm tree. And I said that to the stones, and by the One who sent him with the truth, it was as if I was watching them pull themselves along stone by stone until some rose upon others and they became like a wall. I came to him ﷺ and informed him, and he ﷺ said, 'Take the water-skin.' I took it, and we walked until we approached them. I went ahead of him ﷺ and put down the water-skin, then I returned to him. He ﷺ went aside until he relieved himself, then he came back, peace and blessings be upon him, carrying the water-skin. I took it from him ﷺ, and we returned. When he ﷺ entered the tent, he ﷺ said, 'O Usaym, go to the palm trees and say to them: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commands each palm tree to return to its place. And say that to the stones.' So I went to the palm trees and said to them. He said: By the One who sent him with the truth, it was as if I was watching them pull themselves along with their soil until each palm tree returned to its place. And I said that to the stones, and by the One who sent him with the truth, it was as if I was watching them pull themselves along stone by stone until each stone returned to its place. I came to him ﷺ and informed him of that. This is a good chain, and Mu'awiyah b. Yahya al-Sadafi is weak, but his hadith has a witness from the route of Ya'la b. Murrah, narrated by Ahmad and others.
