قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ:

سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا ؓ، وَسُئِلَ عَنِ الثُّومِ، فَقَالَ: ( مَا كَانَ بِأَرْضِنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ ثُومٌ، وَإِنَّمَا الَّذِي نُهِيَ عَنْهُ: الْبَصَلُ، وَالْكُرَّاثُ )

Translation

✧ I heard Jabir ؓ when he was asked about garlic, and he said: "There was no garlic in our land at that time. What was prohibited was only onion and leek."
