✧ Permissibility of praying in a single garment

- وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ، عَنْ بُرْدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نُسَيٍّ، عَنْ غُضَيْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ:

أَتَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّا نَخْرُجُ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ، وَلِي [بِنَاءٌ] فِيهِ صِغَرٌ، [فَإِنْ] صَلَّيْتُ فِيهِ كَانَتِ الْمَرْأَةُ بِحِذَائِي، وَإِنْ خَرَجْتُ قَرَرْتُ، قَالَ: اقْطَعْ بَيْنَكُمَا بِثَوْبٍ ثُمَّ صَلِّ كَيْفَ شِئْتَ

Translation

✧ I came to 'Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ and said: We go out every year, and I have a [building] in which there is a small space. [If] I pray in it, the woman would be parallel to me, and if I go out, I become cold. He said: Place a garment between the two of you as a barrier, then pray however you wish.
