✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ demanding repayment of dates. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ asked him to wait, but he refused to grant a delay. The Companions of the Prophet ﷺ scolded him. He said: “I adjure you by Allah that I leave Madinah while I am claiming anything from you, for by Allah I will not return to my land until more than what I am claiming from you is plundered from it.” So the Prophet ﷺ sent to a woman from Banu Sulaym called Khawlah asking to borrow dates. She sent him dates and said: “If you want from this, we have as much as you desire.” He said: “Do you want from this?” He replied: “Yes.” “Go and measure and take it in full.” Then he said: “He was more in need of your help than I, and I am more in need that you enjoin me to fulfill my trust.” And he said: “Indeed, Allah, the Exalted, does not sanctify a nation that does not help its weak,” or he said: “does not strengthen its weak.”
