✧ Abdullah b. Yazid was invited to a meal. When he came and saw the house furnished with curtains, he sat outside weeping. It was said to him, "What makes you weep?" He said ؓ: When the Messenger of God ﷺ used to see off an army and reached the Thaniyyat al-Wada', he ﷺ would say, "I entrust to God your religion, your trusts, and the final outcomes of your deeds." One day he saw a man who had patched his cloak with a piece of fur, so he said: He faced the rising of the sun, and said this with his hand—Hammad described it with his two hands, palms inward, and extended his hands—"The world has appeared before you—meaning it has approached—until we thought it would fall upon us. One of you goes out in one fine garment and returns in another, and you cover your houses as you cover the Ka'bah." Abdullah b. Yazid said, "Should I not weep when I see you covering your houses as you cover the Ka'bah?"
