✧ What Has Come Concerning Storytellers and Exhorters

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرَّقَاشِيِّ قَالَ:

اخْتَصَمَ قَوْمٌ فِي الْقَصَصِ، فَحَسَّنَهُ قَوْمٌ وَكَرِهَهُ قَوْمٌ، فَأَتَوْا أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ؓ فَذَكَرُوا لَهُ ذَلِكَ وَسَأَلُوهُ، فَقَالَ: بُعِثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِالْقِتَالِ وَلَمْ يُبْعَثْ بِالْقَصَصِ

Translation

✧ Some people disputed about storytelling; some approved of it and others disliked it. They came to Anas b. Malik ؓ, mentioned that to him, and asked him. He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ was sent with fighting and was not sent with storytelling.
