✧ Virtue of Removing Harm from the Road

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمِنْهَالُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ، قَالَ:

حَدَّثَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ بِحَدِيثٍ فَمَا فَرِحْنَا بِشَيْءٍ بَعْدَ الْإِسْلَامِ أَشَدَّ مِنْ فَرَحِنَا بِهِ، قَالَ ﷺ: « إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ لَيُؤْجَرُ فِي إِمَاطَتِهِ الْأَذَى عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ، وَفِي هِدَايَتِهِ السَّبِيلَ، وَفِي تَعْبِيرِهِ عَنِ الْأَرْثَمِ، وَفِي مَنِيحَةِ اللَّبَنِ، حَتَّى إِنَّهُ لَيُؤْجَرُ فِي السِّلْعَةِ تَكُونُ مَصْرُورَةً فِي ثَوْبِهِ، فَيَلْمَسُهَا، فَتُخْطِئُهَا يَدُهُ

Translation

✧ The Prophet of Allah ﷺ related a hadith, and we did not rejoice at anything after Islam more intensely than our rejoicing at it. He ﷺ said: «The believer is rewarded for removing harm from the road, for guiding to the way, for interpreting for the one with a speech impediment, and for giving the gift of milk. Indeed, he is rewarded for merchandise wrapped in his garment: he touches it, and his hand misses it.»
