✧ Prohibition of Anger

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ، قَالَ:

قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قُلْ لِي قَوْلًا، وَأَقْلِلْ لَعَلِّي أَعْقِلُهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: « لَا تَغْضَبْ »، فَأَعَدْتُ مَرَّتَيْنِ، كُلَّ ذَلِكَ يَرْجِعُ إِلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: « لَا تَغْضَبْ

Translation

✧ I said: “O Messenger of God, tell me a saying, and make it concise, so that I may understand it.” The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “Do not get angry.” I repeated it twice, and each time the Prophet ﷺ came back to me with: “Do not get angry.”
