✧ «How excellent is what you said, O boy! O Bilal, go to our family and bring us whatever food you find with them.» So Bilal ؓ brought twenty-one dates. He said: He placed them in his palm, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gestured with his hand toward his mouth, and we saw that he was supplicating. Then he ﷺ said: «Seven for you, seven for your mother, and seven for your sister; you eat a date in the morning and a date in the evening.» The boy was from among the sons of the Muhajirun. When he stood up, Mu'adh ؓ followed him, placed his hand on his head, wiped it, and said: «May Allah mend your orphanhood, O boy, and make you a successor to your father.» The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: «I saw you and what you did.» He said: «O Messenger of Allah, it was out of mercy for him.» He ﷺ said: «By the One in whose hand is my soul, no man takes in an orphan and treats him well, then places his hand on his head, except that Allah, blessed and exalted, records for him a good deed for every hair, expiates for him a sin for every hair, and raises him a degree for every hair.»
