✧ We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a boy came to him with his sister. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, an orphan boy and his orphan sister. Feed us from what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has fed you; may Allah give you from His own until you are pleased." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How excellent is what you said, O boy! O Bilal, go to our family and bring us whatever food you find with them." Bilal ؓ brought him twenty-one dates. He said, "He placed them in his palm, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gestured with his hand toward his mouth, and we saw that he was supplicating. Then he ﷺ said, 'Seven for you, seven for your mother, and seven for your sister; eat lunch with one date and dinner with one date.'" The boy was from the children of the Muhajirun. When he stood up, Mu'adh ؓ followed him, placed his hand on his head and wiped it, and said, "May Allah mend your orphanhood, O boy, and make you a successor to your father." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I saw you and what you did." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, it was out of mercy for him." He ﷺ said, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, no man takes an orphan to himself, treats him well as his guardian, then places his hand on his head, except that Allah (Blessed and Exalted) writes for him a good deed for every hair, erases from him a bad deed for every hair, and raises him a degree for every hair."
