✧ The Adhan Before Dawn in Ramadan

قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ السُّكَّرِيِّ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي نَصْرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ بِلَالٌ ؓ:
أَذَّنْتُ بِلَيْلٍ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: « مَنَعْتَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ وَالشَّرَابِ، انْطَلِقْ فَاصْعَدْ فَنَادِ: أَلَا إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ قَدْ نَامَ »، فَانْطَلَقْتُ وَأَنَا أَقُولُ: لَيْتَ بِلَالًا لَمْ تَلِدْهُ أُمُّهُ وَابْتَلَّ مِنْ نَضْحِ دَمٍ جَبِينُهْ فَنَادَيْتُ ثَلَاثًا: أَلَا إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ قَدْ نَامَ
Translation

✧ I gave the adhan at night, and the Prophet ﷺ said: "You have prevented the people from food and drink. Go up and call out: 'Behold, the servant has slept.'" So I went, saying: "Would that Bilal's mother had not given birth to him, and his forehead became wet from the splash of blood." Then I called out three times: "Behold, the servant has slept."
