✧ Permissibility of wearing silk due to an excuse, and the indication of its dislike for children

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، قَالَ:

دَخَلَ ابْنُ عَوْفٍ عَلَى عُمَرَ ؓ وَعَلَيْهِ قَمِيصُ حَرِيرٍ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ: ذُكِرَ لِي أَنَّ مَنْ لَبِسَ الْحَرِيرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَمْ يَلْبَسْهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ. قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ: إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَلْبَسَهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ

Translation

✧ Ibn 'Awf entered upon 'Umar ؓ wearing a silk shirt. 'Umar ؓ said: "It has been mentioned to me that whoever wears silk in this world will not wear it in the Hereafter." Abd al-Rahman said: "I hope to wear it in this world and the Hereafter."
