al-Matalib al-'Aliyah 2609

✧ The rebuke of honoring one of the two disputants and of disputing without right

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ، ثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو [بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ]، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، قَالَ:

مَنْ شَدَّ عَلَى - غَفْلَةٍ - مُخَاصِمٍ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ بِخُصُومَتِهِ لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي سَخَطِ اللهِ تَعَالَى حَتَّى يَنْزِعَ.

✧ Whoever takes the side of a litigant in a dispute without knowledge of his case will not cease to be under the wrath of Allah, the Exalted, until he desists.
