✧ The dislike of taking payment for judging

- قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَرِيفٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:

إِنَّ عَلِيًّا ؓ قَسَمَ قَسْمًا فَدَعَا رَجُلًا يَحْسِبُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، فَقَالُوا: أَعْطِهِ. قَالَ: إِنْ شَاءَ وَهُوَ سُحْتٌ.

✧ Ali ؓ distributed a share, so he called a man to calculate [the shares] among the people. They said: "Give him [something]." He said: "If he wishes, but it is unlawful gain (suht)."
