وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نُعَيْمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:
شَهِدْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ يَقْضِي، فَجَاءَ الْحَارِثُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ، فَجَلَسَ عَلَى وِسَادَتِهِ الَّتِي يَتَّكِئُ عَلَيْهَا. قَالَ: فَظَنَّ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ جَاءَ لِحَاجَةٍ غَيْرِ الْحُكْمِ، قَالَ: فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَجَلَسَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: مَا لَكَ ؟ قَالَ: اسْتَأْدَى عَلِيَّ الْحَارِثُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: قُمْ فَاجْلِسْ مَعَ خَصْمِكَ ; فَإِنَّهَا سُنَّةُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ

✧ I witnessed Abu Hurayrah ؓ judging. Al-Harith b. al-Hakam came and sat on his cushion upon which he used to recline. He said: Abu Hurayrah thought that he had come for some need other than a judgment. He said: Then a man came and sat in front of Abu Hurayrah ؓ. He said to him: "What is your matter?" He said: "Al-Harith has made a claim against me." Abu Hurayrah said to him: "Get up and sit with your opponent, for it is the Sunnah of Abu al-Qasim ﷺ."
