✧ Umar ؓ came to al-Jabiyah, the Jabiyah of Damascus, and stood as a preacher. He mentioned the hadith until he said: "Indeed, when I leave this place of mine, no one who has a right in charity should remain except that he comes to me." Only two men of those present came to him, so he ordered that they be given. A man stood and said: "May God keep the Commander of the Believers righteous. This rich man who checks on others is not more entitled to charity than this poor man who abstains." Umar ؓ said: "Woe to you! How can we reach those?"
